Services & Next Steps

There are many ways an end-of-life doula is able to support you and your loved ones. Adults should consider engaging a doula at any age to prepare for unexpected accident or illness, as well as at the time of receiving a terminal or life-limiting diagnosis and when death is imminent.

My service offerings are described below. I am able to provide services both in person and virtually. I provide in-person services in the Richmond, Virginia area and virtual services within the United States. If I am unable to work with you for any reason, I will do my best to refer you to another provider.

    Advance Care Planning

    I am a certified Respecting Choices® Advance Care Planning Facilitator. I will help you identify what is most important to you at end-of-life, facilitate conversations with your loved ones about your wishes, and create an advance directive and healthcare power of attorney.

    Death & Dying Guidance

    I will guide you and your loved ones to better understand what to expect during the dying process. I will assist you in compiling questions for your healthcare provider regarding your specific diagnosis and circumstances. We will also explore options for disposition of your body after death.

    Holding Space

    I will hold space for you and your loved ones to discuss a wide range of end-of-life topics that may be challenging to navigate on your own. Example topics include communicating your needs, values, and desires at this time, addressing unresolved issues in your relationships, and sharing final words of love and wisdom.

    Life Review & Legacy Projects

    I will spend one-on-one time with you to listen, provide emotional support, and bear witness to your life. Together we will create a tangible gift, such as a photo album, video message, written book of stories, or other creative project to share your legacy with your loved ones.

    Guided Imagery

    I will record and perform at your bedside a custom guided imagery meditation (approximately 20-30 minutes long) that is tailored to the visuals and feelings you would like to experience. Guided imagery has been shown to be an effective non-medical method of pain management.

    Autonomous Dying Plans

    If you are seeking to carry out an autonomous dying process, such as Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD), where legal, or Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED), due to a terminal diagnosis, I will coordinate the plan with you and your loved ones, your medical providers, and other relevant parties.

    Bedside Vigil & Rituals

    I will assist you and your loved ones in creating a vigil plan and rituals to be performed during your final moments and at the time of your death. As with all services, rituals will be designed with respect and cultural sensitivity. I will sit vigil at your bedside as time allows.

    Celebrations & Memorials

    I will coordinate the planning of a Celebration of Life and/or Memorial. The event may be held while you are alive or after your death, as you prefer. If requested, I will also assist with drafting your obituary and eulogies and will act as a celebrant, speaking at the event in honor of your life.

    Grief & After-Loss Support

    I will hold space for your loved ones to reflect on their experience, process their grief surrounding your death, and create grief rituals to remember your life. I am not a grief counselor and will refer your loved ones to a licensed practitioner if desired. I will also assist with administrative tasks to wrap up your affairs.

Pricing Options

By the Hour - $85 Hourly Rate

We will meet for pre-scheduled sessions of varying lengths and use each hour of our time together in any manner you choose from among the services described above. Payment will be calculated based on the number of hours spent, to be paid after services are performed.

$300 Four-Hour Bundle

You may pre-pay to reserve a block of four hours together that may be used all in one session or broken out into smaller increments. We will use this time in any manner you choose from among the services described above.

$700 10-Hour Bundle

You may pre-pay to reserve a block of ten hours that may be used for up to four hours per session or broken out into smaller increments. We will use this time in any manner you choose from among the services described above.

If paying for doula services is out of reach for you, please still contact us and we will discuss whether a sponsorship is available. Everyone deserves deathcare support.
